ASIS : Auroral Spectrograph In Skibotn

From the Data menu, you will be able to either visualize or download ASIS data.  Currently only raw data are accessible. We are working on providing the intensity-calibrated ones soon.

We are also working on creating a DOI for the ASIS dataset.

Acknowledgements
The Auroral Spectrograph In Skibotn (ASIS) is a joint collaboration between BIRA-IASB (Royal Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy, Belgique), IPAG (Institut de Planétologie et d'Astrophysique de Grenoble, France) and UiT (University in Tromsø, Norway). ASIS data is openly available. Users must, at a minimum, acknowledge usage of the data using the below citation for the data set. The ASIS team welcomes opportunities to collaborate on usage of the data and may assist in aspects of data processing and/or interpretation.

Download ASIS data

Select the Data Menu and click on Download.  A new tab is opening.

Select the fields in Grating (currently only G1 is available, soon G3) and the year. Two buttons appear.  Click on "Apply Filters".

The days with available data have now become visible (in white and with numbers).  The screenshot below shows an example for G1 and year 2024.

Click on the day(s) you want to select to download the data.  In the example below, Jan 9, Feb 14 and March 5 are selected.

On the right hand side, you see the number of selected days and selected files as well as the total uncompressed size. There is also a button "download this data as ZIP".  Click on it to download the data. A file BIRAIASB_ASIS___G1_2024_dd2503041522.zip has been created and downloaded on your computer.  When you unzip, you have a structure starting with G1 then 2024 and then one directory for each file.  Data are in FITS format (e.g. 20240109T075110169_G1_30sec_100um.fits).  The name contains the grating (G1), the exposure time (30 secs) and the slit width (100um).

Additional features : you can select a full month of data by clicking on the Month (e.g. Feb in blue in the example below)
